Schneider Electric to provide UPS for Swisscom's All-IP switch

The emergency power supply APC Back-UPS Connect is installed between the network and the router. In case of a power cut, it enables the operation of IP telephony for three hours. It can be used in applications such as elevators, too, for example.

The device is available at Swisscom and Also Schweiz. Also is currently the only distributor. The UPS costs CHF 89.

Since the beginning of the year, Swisscom has been working on a VoIP system for emergency calls from companies that could locate calls clearly and securely. Swisscom strives to implement the technology as a European standard.
