Baldness is a common problem that is faced by both men and women. In males, different reasons may cause baldness but the most common type of baldness in males in pattern hair loss. This is also called androgenic alopecia. In the early stage of this type of baldness, PRP hair loss treatment can be an effective treatment.

The main cause of male pattern baldness

Male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia affects the hair follicles and they shrink gradually to kill the hair forever. This disease occurs due to genetic and hormonal factors. Another factor for this disease is dihydrotestosterone (DHT) because of which the hair gets thinner over time. Other factors like poor diet, sleeplessness, chronic disease, stress may trigger the disease.

The Norwood Scale for the progression of baldness

The male pattern baldness does not occur suddenly and follows a pattern of different stages. These stages are tested with the help of the Norwood Scale which is divided into seven stages. At the first stage, hairlines start to recede gradually and the baldness affects the temple and crown area at the last stages. An authentic doctor may choose a suitable treatment for the patients by observing the stage of the baldness.

Some other forms of alopecia to cause male pattern baldness

Alopecia Areata:

This is an autoimmune disease in which bald spots may occur on any part of the scalp. therefore, this is called spot baldness. Any person at any age can face this disorder of the scalp.

Alopecia Totalis:

This disorder of the scalp ends in total loss of hair on the head.

Types of Male Baldness

There are various types of baldness and a skilled doctor may diagnose the type easily. The causes of the baldness may be different but general signs and effects of the disease are almost same.

Some main types of the male pattern baldness are given below:

Androgenic Alopecia:

This is a most common disease that is the effect of genetic reasons and it causes gradual thinning of hair following a certain pattern. The Norwood Scace divides the progression of this disease into the seven stages.

Cicatricial Alopecia:

This disease is the rarest disease that may occur due to the effects of , poisoning, harsh burns, and severe rashes. This disorder is also known as scarring alopecia.

Telogen Effluvium:

Hair growth actually follows a lifecycle in which different phases are involved. During the anagen phase, hair follicles produce hair. During the telogen phase, hair follicles are in resting phase. When the hairs are not in any of the two phases, they generally fall out. Due to aging factor, anagen and telogen phases slow down and this condition results in severe hair loss. This disorder is known as telogen effluvium.

During different hair loss disorders PRP hair loss treatment works effectively but once the hair follicles are gone, the patients need to undergo the surgical procedure called hair transplant surgery. Thus, the patients are wise who meet the surgeon at the right time.
