Things to Keep Away While Placing Wooden Temples

Pooja mandir is a critical aspect of a prayer room. The presence of this wooden temple in a home is considered auspicious and sacred, but you need to be mindful of vastu shastra guidelines and rules. As your prayer room is an area of worship and a place where you keep images of a deity and idols, and religious text, you need to make sure that it is free of negative energies and other things that can disrespect the gods. Keep in mind that the wooden temples automatically attract positive vibes and harmony into your home, but without proper protection and placement, negative energies could affect those traits. So, here are the things you need to consider and keep away while setting up a wooden temple:

  • Keep pooja mandir in the right direction, never in the south. As much as possible, it should be in the home’s northeast corner, or in the west or east, and in the ground floor.
  • Place idols in the right place – Keep idols in the west and/or east of the prayer room, and make sure they are at least an inch away from the wall. Keep them in perfect condition, too, so be sure to keep them away from things that can easily cause them to become dirty or discolored.
  • Keep sleeping areas away from the wooden temple – Avoid pooja mandir placement in any bedroom. Moreover, make sure your feet are not pointing towards the north-east corner or where the pooja is located.
  • Keep away from toilets and kitchens – Avoid placing the wooden temples below, beside, or above toilets and kitchens. Likewise, avoid making your pooja mandir room in the upper floors of the home, as well as in the basement.
  • Keep broken idols away from the wooden temple – Remove them from the pooja and replace them with new statues of idols. Just make sure they do not come from old temples.
  • Never hang photos of birds, animals, and the deceased near the pooja – Apart from these, keep crime scene photos, gruesome images, and other images that can attract negative vibes away from pooja mandir.
  • Keep money away – Do not store or hide money and other valuables in the wooden temple.
