Experiencing loss of 100 strands each day is normal but if you’re noticing a much larger number of hair fibers accumulating in your drain or hair brush then you are for sure, suffering from some kind of hair loss.

Our hair has a natural hair growth cycle. This cycle normally consists of two main stages; anagen which is also known as the hair growing stage while the other one is telogen which is referred to as the resting phase in which the hair growth entirely stops. Telogen phase is usually a very short termed period when you experience hair shedding. The hair growing phase is the prolonged one that lasts for about three to four years whereas the resting phase is only for about two to three months.

Telogen Effluvium is a hair condition that results in a prolonged resting phase of hair growth. It leads to excessive hair loss. It is a condition in which people keep on losing strands without any new hair growth. In severe cases, it can lead to complete baldness as well.

Telogen Effluvium is basically caused by a sudden trauma or prolonged stress. Stress prematurely leads the hair follicles towards the resting phase. It disturbs the natural hair growth cycle. But the good news is this is not a permanent type of hair loss. As soon as the stress levels decrease, the hair grows back and the hair growth cycle starts working normally.

There can be other causes of this disturbed hair growth cycle as well. High fevers, severe infections, childbirth, psychological issues, thyroid gland problems, nutritional deficiencies and certain medications can trigger Telogen Effluvium in people.

The symptoms of Telogen Effluvium start appearing after several weeks of the stressful incident. And there is an abrupt loss of hair noticed. Scalp hair loss is generally experienced in this kind of condition but symptoms may vary from individual to individual. Some people also experience hair loss on other parts of the body as well. The hair shedding stops within a period of six to eight months if the cause has been identified and resolved.

The common method of diagnosing this type of hair loss is microscopic analysis of the fallen hair. The hair lost due to Telogen Effluvium have club shaped roots which can easily be identified with the microscope.

There is no proper treatment for Telogen Effluvium. It is therefore, important to identify the underlying cause of this kind of hair loss. Blood tests are usually recommended by the doctors to diagnose the actual problem. Vivandi Trichology Center provides individualized consultation and diagnosis programs to the patients. After a proper diagnosis and understanding of the root cause, their experts suggest the most suitable non-surgical hair replacement treatment along with the medications, if required.

You should be careful about your hair and overall bodily health. Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle with a well-balanced diet and 30-minute workout routine. Small changes in our routines can create huge difference in our lives.
