Yugioh game developer teamed up with Hasbro a couple of weeks ago

In fact, Hearthstone pretty much made the concept viable by proving that people are willing to put money on the table for an ostensibly simple TCG that has great gameplay elements. Hearthstone recently got a new expansion, the Kobolds, and Catacombs, and fans have been thrilled with what they’ve seen so far. The Duel Evolution game is simple enough for new players and deep enough for real competition.

The latest installment of Bushiroad's CCG tie-in anime, Buddyfight X centers on young bancho-with-a-heart-of-gold Gao Mikado. He's a tough kid with no fear (and potentially a death wish), but he cares about protecting others and doing the right thing. He also cares about aseembling a top-tier deck and becoming a Buddyfighter, but he's missing a key component: a buddy.

The 0 DropMix starter kit, available sometime in September, later this year, includes the game board and 60 smart cards featuring a decent mix of artists and tracks. However, players will need either an iOS or Android mobile device, and a free accompanying app, in order to play, because DropMix isn’t available for consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One. So you’ll need to factor that into the cost, if you don’t already have a smartphone in your pocket.

The much-anticipated AR game isn’t set up for a full-blown public, but Yu-Gi-Oh! fans will be begging Instantfuns to fully fund this project once word spreads. Sam also shared a new videodemoing the game’s multiplayer function, allowing fans to watch as two duelists wipe out each others’ life points.

The yugioh game developer teamed up with Hasbro, who gave Gizmodo a demo of the new game, called DropMix, at Toy Fair 2017 a couple of weeks ago. Our biggest takeaway after playing DropMix was that the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Evolution game feels far more accessible than Harmonix’s previous music titles, since players don’t also need to master a plastic instrument in order to play.

While there are differences between the traditional game and the digital adaptation, they are small enough that most players should have no trouble making the transition. With a deep card-set and a rabid base of fans, Duel Evolution is an underdog to dominate the TCG charts throughout 2018. However, whoever ends up dominating — we all win. TCGs are here to stay and we couldn’t be happier about it.
