What are the Laptop Trends For 2018?

Laptops are getting better and better with each technology update that’s occurring. With a number of brands launching their laptops at Annual Tech Events, it’s hard to keep up with the flow of all that information. But what does the year 2018 holds for the laptop segment and what should we expect.

Let’s understand the trends with a few Laptop examples starting from Dell’s XPS 15 2-in-1 and HP’s Spectre. These new models include the Intel’s new AMD-powered chips that are a combination of Intel’s latest core processor and the Radeon RX Vega M graphics. Needless to say, this improves the graphical capability of both of the laptops. The card alone won’t make these laptops qualified as gaming ones but they do have great graphics.

The 2-in-1 laptops with the flipping skills will be seen a lot less this year and with that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips are introduced by some PC companies. One of the claims that have been made is about the long battery life i.e. 20+ hours. Lenovo Miix 630 that is ARM-powered has just been announced and is a hybrid of laptop and a tablet. This promises the LTE connectivity and HDR support features in the next series of these devices.

Windows 10 does not show a lot of support for HDR but with new apps and games opting for HDR, there’s not much of a choice left but to evolve and adapt. HDR if excellent for watching TV shows as well as movies that’s why we require monitors supporting HDR to ‘Netflix and Chill’. The App Development Companies are also doing their best to stay in-sync with these trends and creating apps according to these changes in technology.
