Udaipur is a city of royal culture, lakes, traditions, handicrafts with royal fashion and it is also home of the famous Pichola Lake. Udaipur is also known as the Venice of India. Many tourists every year visit this city from across the world to witness the beauty and culture it offers to the tourist and without any doubt, each and everyone just fell in love all over again with this place.

CLIMATE:

Since Udaipur is part of the desert land of Rajasthan, therefore the climate is usually hot reaching up to 47 degree in summers. Though, the nights are still cooler than days. So, I would highly recommend to visit this city during winters to enjoy its beauty with amazing and chilling climate. I Stayed in this city for almost 3 days, and that’s how I can list down the best places to visit during your stay in Venice of India.

Ambrai ghat:

It is situated on the bank of Lake Pichola, old Udaipur. Ambrai Ghat is a wonderful place for Sunset Lovers as well as photographers. It’s the best place to have a look at city palace and lake palace for that picture perfect frame. Ambrai Ghat is crowded with local couples to enjoy the romantic essence with the one of the perfect place for sunset. A large number of amazing heritage hotels are situated near ambrai Ghat. Also there is good street shopping along the road side.

Jag mandir:

A splendid creation of yellow sandstone and marble, the Jag Mandir Palace is built on the banks of Lake Pichola in Udaipur. The history of this marvelous structure highlights the kingdom of Mewar under the Sisodia Rajputs. It was believed to be built by the efforts of three Maharanas of the respective Sisodia clan. The magnificent palace boasts of various impressive structures that are evenly distributed in its three-Storeyed architecture. Inside tour of the Palace starts with Gul Mahal, which flaunts an Islamic architectural style. It is a major eye catcher as it is supposed to be the residence of Prince Khurram and his family. Apart from the crescent Muslim interiors, the Gul Mahal is also highlighted for its in-built mosque.

Jag Mandir palace is built on an island in Lake Pichola and is known for its beautiful interiors and architecture. The only way to reach Jag Mandir is through the boat ride, which is just before the city palace.  You can enjoy the breathtaking view with some amazing finger licking food there.

Sajjangarh/Monsoon Palace:

Monsoon Palace was the personal favorite destination of the royal family during monsoon season. The palace is on up hill, with an awesome view for sunset lovers. This palace from far looks like a dream palace on that hill. You can also visit the nearby Sajjangarh Wildlife sanctuary if you wish too. Monsoon palace is located at a distance of 9km from the old Udaipur city. If you are visiting this palace I would recommend to go specially for the sunset to have that glory experience.

Fateh Sagar Lake:

FatehSagar Lake is the pride of city Udaipur and another artificial lake made by Maharana. Green Landscape at the backdrop with clean blue water has given Udaipur the name of “Kashmir of Rajasthan”. To enjoy the view of FatehSagar lake you can stay at Lakend hotel and enjoy the amazing view from the restaurant Frangipani-by the lake and from the pool Side. And a trip can never end without Shopping.

The construction of this 17th century man-made lake reflects an orderly and well-planned design. With three intake channels and an overflow channel, the lake is an absolute delight during the monsoons. Highlighting fact of the Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur is that it is embellished by three beautiful islands.

The largest of them is converted into a park, known as Nehru Park. Over the time, the island park has undergone various changes and today it serves as a nice picnic spot. It has a boat shaped restaurant and a small zoo for children.

Hathipole:

Udaipur is a shopping paradise, you just can’t leave this city of lakes without shopping. And for the Rajasthani traditional textile and hand-loom with best rate and quality, you can head to HathiPole market. Variety of hand looms with amazing color and options in bandhani, leheriya etc are available here. If you have a taste for Rajasthani stuff but you prefer better and selected options, you can head to the street shops near Gangour Gat margh near ambrai ghat.

Conclusion:

Udaipur is a city which never disappoints, and there is lot more to see other then the above list, which one can explore on their own. Also, make sure you have pre booked your stay. There are many more great places near Udaipur like kumbhalgarh, ranakpur and so on which you can visit too.
