What Makes Governments Good at Public Financing?

Posted by Alfonzo Nelson on January 24th, 2018

Public Finance, the study of how well government knows us. Through all the time that has passed us by, since about the entire world went free, we came out to be pretty much at comfort with what government had to offer us. Hence, it's proven that our politicians know us pretty well. And, they have exceptional knowledge of the subject of public finance.

Let's talk about what country has done for us. It has provided us with land, water, food, and security, which sums up to pretty much everything. The cherry on the top: we got the freedom to do anything, express everything, and go anywhere we want. Money? That's something we have to figure how we earn it. Make a call how you're going to claim your prize. It's always there for a taking. We all have got equal opportunities; now it's up to our skills that matter to make it count. However, here are the studies that take place before anything gets allotted to the public.

Firstly, the study of efficient allocation of resources

Further classified in two: First, the Pareto or Allocative efficiency, which simply refers to a situation where allotting resources to one individual or organisation cause harm to some other. The second one, productive efficiency covers every study related to the resources need to be provided in order to retrieve products. One has to manage to serve a merchant with the least average total cost, and the government has to study all these facts before allocating the resources.

Secondly, the study of distribution of income

It is a study of the distribution of nation's total GDP. "How much is everyone's contribution to the development of their nation?" is the question income distribution answers. The results are obtained, represented, and researched, using Lorenz Curve, Gini coefficient, and other such methods applied to figure out the financial inequality. Now, to explain government's efficiency at work. Economically developed countries (which are more likely to spend money into developing a million stupid machines to come up with one that works) are said to have scored higher and higher. And, when we talk about scoring high at Gini coefficient, there’s a mention of increased inequality. In 1820, it was 0.20. By the time we stepped in 1880, it has doubled to 0.53. Currently, financially developed countries boast a Gini Coefficient of 0.63.

Thirdly and finally, the study of Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics comprises the study of the economy of the a large group of people, be it at a city, state, or country level. Let's look at the studies a government commences to not take bad financial conditions take the best of them. Firstly, the output of the given income. Even the organizations that hope a system to support them financially, but fail to be productive just about every single time, are shut down by executive orders. Secondly, the study of unemployment which refers to the total number of unemployed citizens and the resources they need to get to work. An economic system has to figure it out so that the homeless, sick, young, and elderly people, must have a dignity and a sense of connection with the society. Thirdly, the preparations need to be done at the time of deflation to counter possible future inflation. Inflation is the time when the resources produced are not what's required of society anymore. Governments take necessary steps so such things should not affect the citizens of a country.

The points we have discussed above are the basic ones that an ideal financial system takes care of, to keep the economy rolling. There are also a few times when citizens have to bear the load of system failure. But, what can we do? It's something required from a country to take care of. And, we have discussed how allocating resources to one place may harm the others. A system, on the other hand, has to make sure that wherever the raw materials are going, the country must not go down the hill.
