The pregnancy phase of your life is one of the most exciting and beautiful phases, and you should embrace this period with open arms. If you are a mum-to-be for the first time, it is a given that you will be nervous and anxious about the arrival of the little one. This can also be said for mothers who have gone through this experience before, but they would know their way around things a little better than the first timers. There are many things you will have to take care of, and plan during this phase; many things to buy, and more appointments to schedule to ensure a smooth journey. One thing you could do to keep track of things is extremely simple, and that is to keep a list prepared. This will help you complete every task you want to get done without missing out on anything important. Listed here are a few things you could get done before and after the pregnancy.

Before The Baby Arrives

The first thing you can invest in is a waterproof bed pad. No, this is not for the baby, but for you. This is for when your water breaks, there is a layer of protection for your bed. You do not want to be ruining your bed with amniotic fluid spreading all over it. If your water breaks in the middle of the night, you are going to want to rush to hospital and the mess on the bed would not be cleaned for days. There is no going back to that mattress if a layer of protection is not put in place for easy clean up later on.

Your body is changing, and there is no way you can stop that. You are going to be putting on a few extra pounds and that’s okay, but even though your usual clothes will fit you for the first few weeks and even months, it is going to get uncomfortable if the clothes you are wearing are too tight, especially around the belly area. Make sure you buy clothes that are loose and comfortable, maternity pajamas, casual wear and even party wear should be strategically chosen during the initial stages keeping in mind the necessity for sizes to increase over the course of the nine months.

After The Baby Arrives

Once the baby arrives it is highly likely that you will be breastfeeding the little one and this is going to make your nipple sore for quite some time until you get used to it. Nipple cream would be ideal for such a situation, allowing for the soreness to reduce and lessen the irritation caused. Another important item for breastfeeding is the nursing bra that you are going to buy for yourself. To get the size just right, the perfect time for you to go get a bra fitting should be closer to the due date; this is because closer to the delivery your breast tends to get much bigger because this is when the milk comes in. So buying a bra early should mean that you buy it keeping in mind the space that you will need in the months to come.
