Celebrating Thrissur Pooram Most Colourful Festivals in Kerala

The men riding the elephants hold huge colourful parasols or umbrellas, which are specifically prepared for the celebration. The elephants take on and on the beats of the temple orchestra and the parasols are exchanged among the males riding the elephants. The processions and drums go on throughout the day and the festival comes to a close with an amazing screen of fireworks. Though the temple is a Hindu one, Pooram is celebrated by individuals of all religions and is a truly nonreligious festival.
