Cold Chain solutions

Cold chain solutions & the current state in India is a subject of much deliberation. Supply-chain management includes the design, planning, execution, control, and monitoring of supply chain activities with the objective of making a net profit, constructing a competitive infrastructure, leveraging worldwide logistics, synchronizing supply with demand and measuring performance globally. When it comes to perishable cargo – controlling the temperature of the supply chain (keeping it cool) is of the highest importance. Such solutions are thus known as cold chain solutions.

Perishable Cargo

Careful planning for perishable air cargo helps shippers transport the cargo to the demand destination. In perishable logistics, time is of the essence to ensure that produce, flowers, fish, and other products make their destinations while they still maintain the maximal appeal and shelf life. This makes Cold Chain Solutions absolutely necessary for cold chain transportation. Thanks to increased air cargo volumes for commodities such as flowers, perishables supply chain executives describe a dense but firm rise in air cargo use. But, steamship lines ' efforts to cut down fuel consumption by traveling more slowly has coerced some perishables commodities back to air cargo. On return to the warehouse, the truck is plugged in, so as to refreeze the eutectic plates and the cycle continues.

Rigid Polyurethane Foam is used as insulation for the body.GRP Sheets adhered to insulation. Products are arranged to harmonize to delivery priority on roll containers and loaded on to the truck through rearward doors

Truck is charged for one hour after loading of product and get down delivery run

While on delivery, the rearward doors stay unopen and the products are unloaded through side service doors. This culture of innovation has helped foster advancements in refrigerated transport technology leading to the development of Rina's up-to-the-minute product, the Chill Kart. Eutectic plates supply necessary cooling hence invalidating the use of fan cool type evaporator unit. The temperature kept for 10-12 hrs.

Key challenges Lack of quality cold warehousing infrastructure: There is a terrible shortage of cold chain warehouse capacity as only 25 % of the capacity is uncommitted for fruits, vegetables, processed foods and pharmaceuticals, whereas 75 % of the capacity is given to potatoes.Lack of standards and protocols in construction and operation of facilities: technical standards followed in India are mostly inapplicable for Indian conditions, which results in low performance of received refrigerated systems.Low awareness of labor in managing temperature-sensitive products: In India, the supply chain of most products is retentive and broken up. There are respective means in which cold chain products can be transported: refrigerated trucks and railcars; Refrigerated cargo ships; and Air cargo.
