Reefer Container for Dairy Products

Shipping containers are classified into three main categories, namely dry containers, reefer containers, and tank containers.

Reefer containers for dairy products is fast becoming the most popular choice. The other alternatives to reefer container are dry containers and tank containers. Dry containers are the most commonly used containers and are used in the transportation of bulk cargo, whereas reefer containers are used for transporting perishables such as fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, among others.

Dairy often require cool facilities and are stored around 55°F a need which is met by reefer containers for dairy products.  Less number of organized 3PLsector means that as much as 75 percent of truck owners have a fleet of less than 5 vehicles. This is a big relief in terms of tax exemption to the cold chain operators as this facility was only available to the farmers at farm gate but not to the cold chain operators.
