Posted by Sea Star Bakery on February 27th, 2018

Do you have a dozen of leftover hamburger buns in your pantry after last nights ‘Pajama Party’ that you threw for all your besties? And now, are you thinking of tossing them into your trash can? If yes, then I would say that’s not a wise decision at all. Common! You have invested in them and hence, don’t let the money go down the drain. Instead of throwing them, please consider preserving and using them to make other dishes. Thinking, what else can you make other than hamburgers with these buns? Well, there are numerous ways in which you can utilize the leftover hamburger buns or rolls. Some use them to make savoury bagels whereas, the others use them to prepare breakfast casseroles. Some people just fry or bake them a little bit more so that they turn as crunchy as croutons. However, in this post, I’ll be going to share with you some really easy recipes that’ll help you turn the leftover buns into delicious breakfast pastries.

To know how you can turn these buns into a sweet breakfast pastry, please keep reading.

Turn them into a Sweet Bostock

I’m sure you have heard about the classic French breakfast pastry called ‘Sweet Bostock’. But, have you savoured them ever? If your answer is no, then why don’t you use your leftover hamburger buns Melbourne to make sweet Bostock?  Yes, you read that right. Leftover buns and rolls can be easily used to prepare this sweet breakfast pastry dish.

To make this, all you need is the leftover buns/rolls, sweet almond syrup, frangipane (fresh almond spread) and sliced almonds for garnishing.

Procedure:

  • Take each slice of the hamburger rolls Melbourne, prick their body with a toothpick to make teeny-tiny holes and then, dip them in the sweet almond syrup. Wondering, why you need to prick them? Well, so that the almond syrup can get into it easily.
  • Once you are done dipping them, spread the frangipane on both the surfaces of the buns.
  • Finally, take the chopped almonds and sprinkle them over the frangipane spread so that they stick together. That’s it! You are ready to take the first bite of a Sweet Bostock.

Turn them into a Fruit-N-Cream Cheese Bun Pastry

Another very popular breakfast pastry dish that you can make using the leftover buns that you had purchased from wholesale bakers Melbourne is the Fruit-N-Cream cheese pastry. To prepare this dish, the ingredients that you’ll need are:

  Leftover Buns

Strawberries And Blueberries (you can choose other fruits too if you want)

  Cream Cheese

  Lemon Juice & Zest

  Vanilla Extract

  Ordinary and Icing Sugar

Procedure:

  • Take the buns out and microwave them at 350 Degree Fahrenheit until they turn brown and lightly crisp. The crisp factor is needed because originally in a Fruit-N-Cream Cheese Pastry, the pastry seems to be very crisp and crunchy.

However, if you want to feel a chewy consistency in your mouth, then you can obviously keep the bun as it is.

  • Next, beat the cream cheese with lemon juice and zest, ordinary sugar, and vanilla extract, until and unless it turns creamy.
  • Now, take the buns and make square/circle holes (not see through holes though), fill it with the cream cheese and top it with fresh berries. Bake it in the oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts properly. Tadaa! Your Fruit-N-Cream cheese bun pastry is ready to be served!
