eCommerce Lies no One will Tell you & How you Can Deal with Them

Posted by Eric on March 5th, 2018

When I was about to start my eCommerce website. My friends said I couldn’t do it. My family wasn’t even supporting me financially. Why? Because in our family I was the only crackhead to start my own business. Rest of my family was busy with their day to day activities working a 9-5 job.

The reason behind is the story people are telling repeatedly. The lies of eCommerce business that are circulating in the digital world are making it difficult for the modern-day Entrepreneurs to start and sustain their business.

So, I being an Entrepreneur felt the need to clarify those lies and provide suggestions on how to handle those lies.

eCommerce is Passive Income

eCommerce business is not for the faint-hearted.

If you’re selling a digital product you might get away with less work, but not with physical products.

If you’re lazy it will be difficult for you to survive in this nerve-wracking competition.

It is a multi-dimensional business. From eCommerce website design to stock inventory. From getting traffic to your website to engaging your customers. You will have to burn the midnight oil to stand out from the crowd.

If you have a Website, you’ll Generate Sales

Setting up a website is so easy today. You can set up a free website on Woocommerce, Shopify, or you can go for a professional digital marketing agency to make a custom website for you.

The eCommerce market is cluttered. And if you don’t work hard on the marketing, you won’t be heard and seen by your potential customers out there.

There are endless opportunities out there. To market, to grab the attention of your customers, and to convert those customers into raving fans.

Opening an eCommerce store is just a gateway that you provide your customers. The reality is that you need to build the road for your customer. You need to tell your story, you need to plan your marketing and execute that.

Free Shipping is Complicated

The number one skill that you need to master is negotiation. From manufactures to supplies to customers. You need to work on how to crack the best deal with your supplies. In the start, it might sound difficult, but as you progress, you’ll be able to understand the dynamics of eCommerce shipping. And once you know the process, you will be able to cut down costs of the shipping.

You’re only competing with local brands

No. You’re not. The Internet provides opportunities to everyone regardless of their religion, cast, or country. So, forget about serving just the local market. Yes. You can start small. From the local market, you can expand into the international market.

Your competition is global. If you want to expand your eCommerce business, start with baby steps and move towards understanding the international market.

To Wrap it all up

Starting an eCommerce website is easy. But to bring traffic and generate leads is the hard part. People will say what they want to say. But, it is only you that can prove them wrong. If you have the willingness to succeed, you’ll be able to do the hard work. Fail. Try harder. Fail better. And after some time, they will start calling you an overnight success. Till then. Work like hell.
