UGC NET Application form is going to release on 6th March 2018. Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE conducts National Eligibility Test i.e. NET on the behalf of University Grants Commission commonly known as UGC. Aadhaar Card is considered mandatory in order to apply for the UGC NET. UGC NET is an eligibility condition for the Indian candidates for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor both. Candidates who will be granted with JRF awards will be eligible to continue their research in the post graduate subject form any national organization. This year i.e. in 2018, UGC NET will be conducted once in a year.

NOTE- the UGC NET Application form will release on 6th March 2018 and notification and details has been already released. The exam pattern for UGC NET has been changed. Earlier 3 papers were conducted but this time onwards only 2 papers will be conducted which are Paper 1 and Paper 2. The eligibility condition of age limit has also been changed as the maximum age limit for appearing in JRF has been increased by 2 year i.e. 30 years now.

Important Dates-

  • The detailed notification of UGC NET was released on 1st February 2018
  • The UGC NET application form will be released online on 6th March 2018
  • Last date to submit the UGC NET application form falls on 5th April 2018
  • Last date to make the payment of fee for the UGC NET application form falls on 6th April 2018
  • Corrections in the UGC NET application form can be made from 25th April 2018 to 1st May 2018
  • The UGC NET exam will be conducted on 8th July 2018
  • The answer key for the entrance exam will release in the month of August, 2018
  • The result for the entrance exam will be declared online in the month of July, 2018

Candidates who all wish to apply for the UGC NET will have to fill the UGC NET application form in online mode only that too on the official website of the exam conducting authority. The application forms will release on 6th March 2018. No UGC NET application form will be accepted after the last date of submitting the application form. The process of filling the application form will consist of 4 steps which are filling the application form, uploading the scanned photograph and signature, making the payment of the application fee and at last taking the print of the confirmation page. The candidate is not required to send any hard copy of application form or confirmation page to CBSE. CBSE will also provide correction period in UGC NET application form.

Application Fee-

Application fee for UGC NET application form varies for different categories. Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The application fee for the candidates of general category is Rs.1000, for the candidates of OBC-NCL category is Rs.500 and for all other reserved categories, the application fee is Rs.250. The payment of the application fee can be made through online mode with the help of credit or debit card or in offline mode through e-challan of Syndicate or Canara or ICICI bank.

Eligibility Criteria-

In order to appear in the entrance exam, the candidates are required to fulfill the following eligibility conditions-

Qualification- candidates who all are interested to apply for UGC NET should have cleared master’s or equivalent degree from a recognized university or college or institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate and 50% marks for candidates of reserved category.

Age limit- For JRF, maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1st January 2018 and relaxation of 5 years is granted to candidates of reserved category.

Aadhaar Card- Aadhaar card is made mandatory for candidates who all are interested to apply for UGC NET exam. No candidate without Aadhaar Card will be allowed to apply for entrance exam.

UGC NET Exam Pattern-

Entrance exam will consist of 2 papers.  Entrance exam will be conducted in offline mode. There will a total of 150 questions, 50 questions in paper 1 and 100 questions in paper 2. Questions asked in the entrance exam will be MCQ based question.  Medium of entrance exam will be either Hindi or English. Duration of paper 1 will be 1 hour and paper 2 will be 2 hours. There will be no negative marking followed by CBSE in entrance exam. Each correct answer will award the candidate with 2 marks.
