Are you fed up with the traffic that you have to face on a daily basis while visiting your college or tuition? And, are you looking for a mode of transport that is not very expensive but will help you reach your destination on time? If yes, then I would say, request your parents to purchase an electric scooter for you. Now, you must be thinking why am I suggesting you to purchase an e-scooter and not a sports or cruiser bike, isn’t it? Well, there are numerous reasons behind it. But, one of the major reasons why I’m suggesting this is because you don’t have to spend a single penny on maintaining it. Yes, that’s right! Unlike a bike/motorcycle, you don’t need to take your electric scooter to a service center in order to maintain it. Instead, all you need to do is take out some time and maintain it yourself.

In case you don’t know how a best electric scooter needs to be maintained and that too at your own home/garage, then please keep reading this blog because here, I’ve jotted down some very simple “do it yourself” tips for maintaining an e-scooter.

Happy reading!

STEP 1: Focus on the Battery

The battery is one of the most essential elements of any e-scooter, regardless of its size, style and brand. Wondering why? Well, it’s because this is the only part that provides power to the engine’s ignition system so that the scooter runs smoothly. Hence, it is very important for any e-scooter owner to add the scooter’s battery to their ‘maintenance checklist’.

  • Please See: Charging the e-scooter’s battery is the key to keeping it healthy and working. Hence, keep charging it from time to time. And yes, do not hesitate to replace the battery when charging it no longer works.

STEP 2: Keep the Tires under Check

After the battery, next, you need to move on to the tires because they too play a vital role in helping you ride the e-scooter smoothly. So, make sure you keep your tires in check as well.

Some of the important things that you must check while maintaining your electric scooter’s tires are:

  1. Check the sidewalls of the tires to look for signs of cracks or dry rot. If you find any of these signs, immediately change the tires.
  2. Check the pressure of the tires (preferably before every ride) so that you can properly manage and address all kinds of sudden leakages.
  3. The recommended tire pressure for most of the e-scooters is 30 and 32 pounds per square inch for the front and rear tires respectively (this could vary too; have a word with the manufacturer or seller). Hence, while maintaining the tire, please check if the tire pressure is accurate or not.

STEP 3: Check the Condition of the Brakes

Last, but certainly not the least, you need to thoroughly check the brakes of the electric scooter and see if they are working perfectly or not.

To analyze the condition of the brakes, here are a few things you must do such as:

  • Pull the hand lever when the e-scooter is in motion, just to engage the brakes.
  • Remove all the trapped air by bleeding the brake line.
  • Make sure that the brake pads are at least 2-3 mm thick. And if not, then change it as soon as possible.

Now that you know that maintaining a best electric scooter is really easy, don’t you think you should buy it? If your answer is yes, then request your parents right now!
