PoE: Do You Think Maps are Hard To Sustain This League?

Posted by Richard Betts on March 24th, 2018

Some people say maps are hard to sustain this league. How is that even possible? They also say alchs are hard to sustain, I say "what are you talking about?". I have sold off about 800 alchs this league, and I still have 150+ left and going up each map I run.

Stratergy:
Say you want a map base of T10 and above. Then you simply roll all T10 maps and then you play all T10 maps before you do any T11 or higher maps.

Step 1.)
If you, like me, like to shape your maps then make sure you have them all in the same area as you want to put your elder in that area in order to utalize the ping pong effect between shaper and elder influenced maps.I have shaped Atoll (T11), Shaped Ramparts (T12), Shaped Armoury (T13), Shaped Vault (T14). As my T15s I don't shape as I plan on selling most of them off as people try to spawn elder on T15 for the last map fragment in order to get access to the uber elder fight.

Conclusion of step 1: Find a string of maps going from T6-T9 of which you enjoy running. Place your elder in the area in order to use the ping pong effect later.

Step 2a.)
As said earlier, you want to roll all your maps of the tier you want to run, this depends on what your current SOLID map base currently is. If you're on T8 as a solid map base, then you should have about 40 of those maps. If you have less, I wouldn't consider it a solid base. This also means, you most likely have about 20 maps of the tier above it, T9, which will help you in Step 4.) later.

Step 2b.) Rolling the maps:
To roll the maps you simply id the maps which are magic or rare. You use a scouring orb to turn them back to 'normal' as you'll be gaining most profit from chisels that way. You then chisel all the maps in your solid tier, follow it up with alching, rerolling the map rolls you can't do, preferable there should only be 1-2 rolls max you can't do on your character or if you have access to multiple characters. Once they're all alched and got rolls you can do you have 2 options.

Option 1: You vaal orb all the maps. This will gain you some +1, usually not that many, maybe 10%.

Option 2: You don't vaal orb the maps and instead you'll be able to run a zana mod on the maps.

Step 2c.) Use sextants. Most people will have access to at least 2 sextants as maximum on their atlas. Use them, reoll if you want, but generally I stick with pretty much everything.

Step 3.) Run all the maps. Do you have a solid base of the map tier above the one you just ran? Go to step 4.) Otheriwse, go to step 5.)

Step 4.) You're done running all the maps of the tier you set out to do, your then SOLID base tier. You should now have gained about 20-25 maps of the tier above this. Since you most likely had 20 maps or so of this tier, this case T9, it has now become a solid base. You return to Step 2b.) and work your way down to step 3.) again.

Step 5.) At some point you'll find it that you no longer have a solid base of the tier above the one you just ran. Then you simply go back about 2-3 tiers and go from step 2b.) again. https://www.u4gm.com/path-of-exile
