The Purpose of Fashion Handbags

Posted by Elanora Brown on April 6th, 2018

This year some of the leading designers are showing Purses and Handbags meant to be used for every situation. The economic downturn has these designers thinking so inside the box that the bags should never be called “fashion”. Practicality has taken the place of style and pragmatism has created fear in design houses. For example, clutches with chains or straps that transform the clutch to a shoulder bag or totes that fold in half to make a clutch are common. It seems that most of them have forgotten the purpose of buying fashion handbags.

The purpose of fashion handbags is to be fashionable. Fashion is all about fun, change, novelty and uniqueness. Why should a woman purchase a bag that looks nearly identical to the other five in their closet? Color change, fabrication and usefulness are insufficient. Chinese women, who have disposable income for the first in many of their lives, are turning their noses up at Louis Viutton and Gucci bags as being “too ordinary”. Russian women are snubbing the major designers who are more practical than innovative.

Women – regardless of nationality - want handbags of all sizes, shapes, colors and styles even if they are not practical. It’s not that women are not practical or pragmatic; but there is a limit to how long they choose to remain only in that frame of mind. The Chanel handbags online have gone viral. Women of every age, economic and lifestyle want any of the hoop bags or color-blocked fat clutches that strutted down the runways of Europe. McQueen’s Steampunk versions are just as intriguing to women who are determined to get over the doldrums of pragmatism without fun. The point for designers to remember is that women will buy bags that they don’t already own.
