Travertine: The Bigger, the Better for Patio

Posted by Travertine Warehouse on April 12th, 2018

Bigger is often better for a patio, and the same principle applies to the size of the pavers you will use for it. However, size is not the only factor that will determine a paver’s appropriateness for your patio. You need to consider the material, too, and if you want something that is durable and capable of lasting for generations, then travertine is a good choice. Over-sized travertine pavers will give a modern and luxurious look to your patio, and you can use them to create stepping stones and walkways, or as paving material for your driveway, too.

One of the benefits associated with travertine pavers is their ability to blend beautifully and seamlessly with your property’s natural environment, while adding value to your property. Travertine is a creation of nature, as it is a sedimentary rock that forms in mineral hot springs and gets deposited in quarries. So, by incorporating the stone into your landscape, you can have an environmentally friendly home that will never go out of style. Travertine has been used for centuries as building material, and the Roman Colosseum one of the structures proving its durability and ability to last for generations.

Large travertine pavers are 24” x 24” in size. When installed, they create a clean, seamless, and uniform look with their cleaner lines. The aesthetic adds a sophisticate and modern feel to the patio, too. Large pavers can be incorporated in any landscape design. For instance, if you are using them to build a pool deck, consider using turf or synthetic grass in shaded areas.

Reputable suppliers of natural stone tiles and pavers carry travertine pavers in tumbled edge and chiseled edge finishes. A tumbled edge finish will provide your patio with a solid material that lacks imperfections and tiny chips, but with a slight texture that will provide grip for feet. This style will provide a timeless and sophisticated look to the patio with its faded hues and rounded colors, too. To enhance the shade, consider using a stone enhancer.

Chiseled edge travertine pavers provide a beautiful finish that can add a rustic or old world look to your patio. The rough edges are reminiscent of the feature present on the material used to build Renaissance castles. The honed and unfilled finish allows you to install them in any style or design, or as borders to compliment or contrast another type of paver on your patio.
