For the past five years, Kia Motors America (KMA) and charity partner B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) have been on a mission: Working together to prevent injuries and save lives by training teens and their parents all across the country to be safer behind the wheel.

Today, that collaboration continues with the announcement of a multi-year partnership extension between KMA and the road safety organization that drag racer Doug Herbert founded in honor of his sons Jon and James, who lost their lives in a car crash in 2008.

“Car crashes are the number-one cause of death among teens, but with Kia’s help, we know we’re making a difference,” said multi-time Top Fuel drag racing champion-turned-road-safety-advocate Herbert. “It’s impossible to know exactly how many lives our schools have saved over the last ten years – we’ve trained more than 30,000 teens plus their parents – but even if it was only one, it would all be worth it. We’re grateful for the ongoing commitment and support from Kia and all of our other donors and sponsors, which enables us to continue making America’s roads safer for everyone.”

Kia will continue to serve as the Official Vehicle and a presenting sponsor of the B.R.A.K.E.S. charity, which, including teens and parents, has trained nearly 60,000 drivers since its inception in 2008. KMA’s financial commitment will help offset school costs, which average ,000 per weekend. The brand’s in-kind support provides a 44-car fleet, including Souls, Rios and Fortes, to ensure B.R.A.K.E.S. participants are able to experience the latest in vehicle technology.

“Kia Motors is committed to vehicle and road safety, and our partnership with B.R.A.K.E.S. is an important way for us to convert that commitment into action.” said Saad Chehab, vice president, Marketing Communications, KMA, “We congratulate the B.R.A.K.E.S. organization on a decade of saving lives and look forward to continuing our collaboration for years to come.”
