The most common types of filling used in cosmetic dental care in Dubai , Al Barsha and Sharjah are silver tooth fillings and white fillings, and there are other types each with its advantages and disadvantages.

Silver tooth fillings

Disadvantages: expensive and unsuitable for teeth that need large fillings and may crack or break under chewing pressure. White tooth fillings vary in color with coffee, tea and tobacco and do not last as long as silver tooth fillings (may last from 3 to 10 years).

Glass Ionometer

Glass Ionomers is a substance used as a toothbrush and is also used as a cement to glue and fix crowns and bridges.

Advantages: Ionumer Glass is used as fillings under the gum line and as a poultice for children. Fluorescent Ionumer secrete fluoride which helps protect teeth from decay.

Disadvantages: weaker than white tooth fillings and more likely to break.

Golden Tooth Fillings

Gold fillings are indirect dental fillings.

Advantages: Strong, non-corrosive, unbreakable or cracking under pressure and can last up to 20 years.

Disadvantages: Golden tooth fillings are the most expensive option and color does not match the color of natural teeth.

Porcelain Fillings

Porcelain fillings are indirect dental fillings.

Advantages: It is aesthetic fillings where the color of natural teeth and resistant to corrosion and color change compared to white tooth fillings. It can last up to 15 years.

Disadvantages: prone to cracking under pressure and high cost (similar to the cost of gold).

If the caries or fracture has destroyed a large part of the teeth it must make the crown of teeth so as to maintain the structure of the remaining teeth.

Inlay and Onlay

Inlay and Onlay can last much longer than traditional dental fillings (up to 30 years). They can be made of gold, porcelain or white fillings (compost).
