Best Secrets to Looking Younger

Apparently, ageing gracefully is a thing. But we’re not so sure. Rather than ageing gracefully, how about looking youthful and feeling great, no matter how old you are? Doesn’t sound too bad, does it?

From the food and drink we enjoy, to how we spend our free time, to how we treat our skin and hair, there are plenty of crafty secrets out there to help us retain our youthful exterior.

Here are 4 ways to age gracefully without letting on that you’re ageing at all.

Hair

As we get older, a common problem for women is our hair thinning hair. While an active lifestyle and healthy diet (plenty of water!) will help curtail thinning, it won’t stop it entirely, and if your thinning is quite advanced, there is little in the way of natural remedies available. One solution that is proven effective, however, is a wig or hairpiece.

Whether it is a partial hairpiece for added volume in a specific area, a ponytail for length, or a wig for complete coverage, the sophistication and quality of contemporary hairpieces and wigs is nowadays extremely advanced, with an enormous variety of options to suit your face shape, style and natural skin tone.

Diet

You are what you eat, so eat young and look young. That’s the theory, anyway. Lots of water rather than sugared drinks or alcohol is essential, as is doing away with bad habits, such as smoking or drinking.

With that taken care of, it’s all about the good stuff, such as a rich, varied diet that includes plenty of extra virgin olive oil, avocadoes, fresh vegetables, superfoods like pomegranate, salmon and sweet potatoes, green tea and quick squeezes of lime to go with your drinks and salads.

Skincare

Daily skincare, morning and night is an absolute must. This should include cleansing and moisturising twice a day; sun protection – especially during the summer months but all year round, also; where necessary, laser hair removal and/or hair removal cream; and makeup in moderation.

As you can surely imagine, we could write a whole book on makeup tips on looking young, but we think the 2 key things to remember are, firstly, not to overdo it – this is definitely a case of less is more – and, secondly, to be aware of how your face is likely to develop as you get older. Slimming faces means hollowing cheeks which means drawing the eye to the cheek bone – the lightest touch of blush will achieve that. Changing hair means thickening the lashes while neatening the eyebrows. Thinner lips means a hint of colour, often a deeper tone, is all you need – no strong pencil lines, no going in heavy with both lips and eyes – draw attention to one and let the other breathe.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle is doing all the right things – you know what they are, regular activity and getting out and eating and drinking right – while avoiding all those bad things – smoking, drinking, staying up later. But also lifestyle is about being positive, proactive in what you enjoy and how you enjoy it, about being sociable, informed, engaging and engaged. Successfully achieve those things and the battle is won!
