10 WordPress plugins that your blog must have

WordPress is a great blogging platform. No wonder, then, that millions and millions of users prefer it over all the other platforms out there. But, by itself, it would be rather dull. This is why the implementation of plugins can really make your life easier. Here are 10 Wordpress plugins that you should consider when you set up your very own blog.

  • Akismet. This is essential to your blog. Akismet's job is keeping you spam free. It catches each and every spam message that you receive and quickly disposes of it. In all my years of using Akismet, it has never missed a single spam comment. The only thing is that it sometimes gets ahead of itself and places ordinary comments as spam, so make sure you check on it regularly.
  • Better Blogroll. If you're like me, you have a lot of people in your blogroll, but you don't want your sidebar to get filled with links. Better Blogroll only shows a predefined number of random links from your blogroll. So you can have hundreds of blogrolls listed, they will only appear 5, 10 or 12 at a time.
  • Facebook Like. With Facebook being the online sensation that it is, you don't want to miss out on an important source of traffic. Make sure you place the Facebook Like button in plain view, so everybody that likes your posts can get a chance to... Like your posts. Get it?
  • FD Feedburner Plugin. Feedburner is a great tool. So this plugin simply redirects all of your feeds to Feedburner. Simple!
  • Twitter Tools and TweetMeme Retweet Button. Well, you have the Facebook Like button, why not take care of Twitter, too? These two plugins make sure that your articles get published on Twitter and retweeted as much as possible.
  • StatPressCN - This is my personal favorite statistic plugin. It has a lot of different features and it's not afraid to share them with you. You should give it a try.
  • MobilePress. This plugin makes your blog more mobile friendly. When a user logs on to your site from a mobile device, they will see a simpler version of your blog.
  • Subscribe to Comments. Do users often comment and start a discussion regarding one of your articles? With this plugin they can never miss a response.
  • WP Page Numbers. This will show the page numbers instead of the classic "Next" or "Previous" on your main page.

And that?s it. With these 10 plugins you can make your good blog great. Combined, they can make the experience much more comfortable for both you and your visitors. As you might know, a little goes a long long way.
