Studies Highlight The Real Cost of Unproductive Meetings

Whether you're a small business owner, the CEO of a multi-national corporation or a low-level employee, all of us spend a considerable amount of time in meetings every year. Far too often, these meetings are unproductive and wasteful, yet businesses worldwide continue to force employees at all levels to attend scores of them each month. 

In fact, research shows that senior executives can spend more than two working days in meetings each week, with a busy professional sometimes attending up to 60 meetings in a single month. Given that 50% of meetings are thought to be unproductive, that's a considerable amount of wasted time. 

Of course, this wasted time comes at a price. For a Fortune 500 company, the average cost per meeting is 7, increasing to 7 for a Fortune 500-2000 company. Across all company sizes, the US loses m per day on wasted meetings, and an incredible bn in salary costs is spent on unproductive meetings each year across the entire country.
