Root canal treatment refers to a dental procedure that helps replace infected, dead or injured pulp from the root canal of your teeth. The pulp is the soft part at the center of a tooth, made up of blood vessels, nerve, and living connective tissue and cells. When this pulp gets infected or inflamed, you need to visit your dentist in Rajajinagar or any nearby locality or city at the earliest.

There are many reasons for pulp inflammation. It can cause due to repeated dental procedures, crack in the tooth, accidental trauma, inappropriate crowning and deep decay. And when this happens, bacteria start entering your tooth via those deep cavities or cracks, leading to the formation of an abscessed tooth. If not treated in time, this may not only cause pain and swelling but also lead to severe oral health problems later.

Root Canal Treatment Procedure in Steps

Diagnosis

When you notice pain in your pulp, you need to rush to a nearby dental clinicimmediately. At first, the dentist diagnoses the tooth. Before proceeding with root canal treatment, the dentist does an x-ray of the root and a pulp vitality test to see whether the treatment is needed or not.

So, if you are a residence of Rajajinagar, Bangalore, then you can visit the best dental clinic in Rajajinagar. In case you are in any other locality then you can search for the dentist / dental clinic in that area and can book a consultation.

Application of Local Anesthesia

To eliminate pain sensation, the dentist makes use of local anesthesia to numb the tooth during the process. When it’s sufficiently numb, places a rubber dam over the tooth. This rubber dam comprises metal clamp that has a latex sheet.

Cleaning the Infected Area

The dentist will proceed with making an opening through the top of the abscessed tooth to clean the infected area with a disinfecting solution.  Going further, dentist shapes the canals to increase the diameter for tooth filling purpose. Also, the dentist performs an x-ray to check if root canals are clean and in proper shape or not.

Temporary Sealing and Antibiotics

At this stage, the patient receives temporary filling of the root to seal the tooth opening till next visit. Also, the dentist prescribes calcium hydroxide to kill germs and antibiotics to prevent infection.

Permanent Sealing

At the final stage, the canal gets permanent filling using a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. The dentist then seals the opening with a sealing paste. This can get completed in a single/two visits when rotary RCT procedure is followed.

Crowning

After the root canal, the person needs to get crowning done to prevent teeth fractures. And for that, you may need to visit prosthodontist who specializes in teeth restoration and replacement.

Concluding Note

The success rate of root canals is high. If done on time and well taken care of, a root canal can last the entire lifetime. However, the chance of your teeth getting cavity increases after a root canal. Hence, you need to maintain oral hygiene regularly.  The patient must regularly brush and floss. Also, he/she should visit the dentist at regular intervals to keep a track on its condition. Negligence may lead to severe outcomes.

If you need to get root canal done, India Dental World can help you schedule appointment at your convenience. You can choose yournearest locality in any dental clinic in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune or any other cities in India.
