Guide To High Index Lenses

The first step to choosing the right pair of glasses that would be a perfect match and fit for you is to perform an eye examination to get a better understanding of what the issue is.  At times an individual may think they need glasses or even eye contacts when the issue can be easily rectified with basic medication or home remedies. It usually is best to first seek for a medical examination by a ophthalmologist before taking action. Failing to do so can may further perpetuate the situation. Once the exam is complete an individual can then take the results of the exam to their doctor in order for a prescription to be provided if need be.

The exams performed by the specialists are usually divided into two parts: a medical based and a refraction. The medical based portion is more of a physical examination of the whole eye as well as the visual system. This is usually performed whiles the eye is dilated as the specialist looks inside with a bio--microscope.

The second part is the refraction which is based on looking at the eye chart and trying to read all that is indicated on it or selecting which statement, letter or phrase is better.

Once the prescription is given by the doctor a consumer can then present themselves to a retailer or boutique of prescription eyewear to purchase their glasses. Based on their prescription they would then have to decide whether to purchase thick or thin lenses. In terms of the frame, the consumer would then have to decide what type of colour or style they would be going for, what type of material they would want the frame to be made off. In the event that thin lenses are used one must decide between the 1.67 vs 1.74 high index lenses to find the right fit. Once they have decided on what type of lens to use and what type of frame they would have they would be on the road to choosing their brand new pair of glasses.
