For the 3rd straight week, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 to the DS Warmane Gold for sale was the very best-selling game in Japan. And with the third straight week, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to the PSP became a distant second.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 can make it three-of-a-kind that has a third straight week atop the charts.
Media Create today released its Japanese sales charts with the week of May 10-16, showing little or no turnover from the ranks. There were no changes from the top four games, with the 2 main portable hits then Nintendo's evergreen New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Tomodachi Collection with the DS in third and fourth, respectively.
There were just a pair of new releases to produce the week's top ten. Idea Factory's Hakuouki: Yuugi Roku was the greater selling from the two, reaching fifth place around the charts. The game lets players control swordsmen in feudal Japan, alternately keeping the peace through combat and performing menial daily tasks in selection of minigames. The only other technology to chart was Electronic Arts' PlayStation 3 edition of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, which made the 10 spot with just over 10,000 copies sold.
It would be a difficult week for hardware sales, as every system sold fewer units pc did the week prior. The PS3 composed some ground relative on the competition, mainly because it leapfrogged the DSi LL and Wii to go back to second place. While the PSP maintained its position atop the hardware charts, its digital distribution-driven counterpart the PSP Go a particularly trying week, selling just 871 systems.
