Implementing predictive maintenance to take an organization to a new level.

Predictive maintenance is not a new term for many of us and is been frequently implemented by product manufacturers as well as service providers. But with advancement in technology, predictive maintenance got the ability to create wonders and can result in significant savings for manufacturers. Today, most of the custom software development companies are utilizing sensors to monitor operational conditions while storing historical data in the cloud and performing analytics and predictive maintenance tasks.

With predictive maintenance, manufacturing industries are also getting benefited a lot. Machines on the factory shop floor can now assess their own performance and order their own replacement parts to a field technician when necessary. Also, a more advanced version of predictive maintenance is now capable of using algorithms based on big data to predict any of the possible future equipment failures.

There is a huge possibility of reaping positive results by investing in predictive maintenance solutions because of their significant impact on increasing operational efficiency thus creating an influence in the bottom line.

Let’s have a look at some of the facts that show how predictive maintenance can improve manufacturing performance:

Outdated maintenance procedures are one of the prime reasons for wastage of resources, also, they can expose factory floor workers to a greater safety risk. Apart from safety risks, loss of productivity, unplanned outages can also result in excessive maintenance, repair, and equipment replacement costs.

Predictive maintenance can bring huge profits whereas reactive maintenance work is another reason for causing huge losses, it almost costs as much as five times of the planned maintenance. If any equipment fails due to degraded maintenance and there is an immediate need to change or do some repairs, then it causes immediate losses due to a loss in productivity, delays in meeting deadlines, to take backup of inventory etc.

For, predictive maintenance there needs to be a high level of data integration, to avoid a whole new set of complexities especially while connecting the back office to the front office.

Despite having some of the technological hurdles, predictive maintenance is an essential part of the factory for having a safe and secure future. Manufacturing industry players often look forward to automating manufacturing processes but not the maintenance process. But those manufacturers who automate not only manufacturing processes but also maintenance processes can extract huge benefits from a massive economic advantage by raising their factory to a whole new level of efficiency.
