Exercise Ball ? An Extremely Useful Exercise Equipment

If you have never used an exercise ball before then you probably aren’t familiar with its many uses. Exercise balls are very versatile; this seemingly simple exercise tool can really give your body the ultimate workout when used correctly. The key is to know what routines and sets you can do with it. You can actually perform a lot of exercises to develop different sections of your body using an exercise ball. Here are some of them:

Overhead ball squat

Hold the exercise ball up over your head, then lower your weight, very much like you would do in a traditional squat, never forcing the weight to go at your upper back. Adding the weight of the ball to a normal squat strengthens your thighs and legs. It also exercises the traps and the deltoid muscles.

Wall squat

A great feature of exercise balls is that they slowly guide your movement and adapt to your body. To do a wall squat, put the exercise ball between your lower back and the wall. Gradually move down until you are in a sitting position, until your legs are at 90 degrees at the knees. Hold this position for one to two seconds and go straight back up. You can do this 10 to 15 times per set. This exercise stimulates the shoulders, legs, and back.

Hamstring curl

Lie flat on the floor and then put your heels on top of the exercise ball. Pull the ball towards you. Inhale and stretch your legs out once again. Do this for 10 to 15 repetitions for a complete body workout.

Push-up

Instead of the usual push-up with your feet touching the floor, you can elevate your feet and place them on the exercise ball. This is a lot more difficult than a traditional push up, but it will enhance the muscles of the triceps, biceps, and shoulders.

Ball jog

This exercise is for the kid in you. Sit on the exercise ball and then repeatedly lift your knees up and down as high as you can. Raise your heartbeat while enjoying the bounce for as many times as you can.

These are just a few of the many exercise routines that you can do with an exercise ball. As you can see, a simple ball can truly help you develop your overall physique.
