Are You Taking Home Security Seriously?

Posted by Kevin Johnson on July 11th, 2018

Protecting your home and family is vitally important in the 21st century. You may think that you won’t be targeted, but don’t let your naivety come at a cost of your family’s safety. With this in mind, here are some measures that you can take to protect your home, with thanks to home automation experts Custom Controls.

Intruder Alarms

If an intruder enters your property, you should have an alarm fitted to sound when this happens. A good alarm will be linked to a security company, or your neighbours, who can then take appropriate action. Another good security measure to take with an intruder alarm is to fit vibration sensors to the windows and doors of your property, which sound whenever someone tries to climb through your window for example.

CCTV Systems

Traditionally, most CCTV Systems were of poor quality with grainy images which were difficult to decipher. Times have changed and you will be surprised at how good the images that are collected are. You can further improve the effectiveness of a CCTV system by finding a way of connecting the CCTV to a monitoring station whenever movement is detected. Some people are even installing high-end IP CCTVs with fantastic resolutions – some as good as 4K TV – which makes it easier to help identify intruders.

Perimeter Protection

Perimeter protection is not all that common, but is another effective technique to consider. In this protection system, a monitoring station receives an alert as soon as someone enters your property. The monitoring team reviews the footage to see if the person detected is a member of the household or somebody who shouldn’t be there. This is a system favoured by rich individuals who are at risk.  It has been known to prevent kidnaps in the past!

Door Access and Intercom Systems

Gone are the days metal keys were a full proof way of securing your property. They are easily copied and passed from person to person. If you invest in a new intercom system, this is a great way to protect your property further. The intercom works like a two-way phone call.

If you can afford to invest in the latest technology, you may wish to contact some well-known home automation installers for their help to protect your home with the latest home automation and security technology. Crestron home automation is by far the most popular system. Make sure you do your research!
