Path of Exile on Consoles Being Considered

Grinding Gear Games is "definitely considering" a console port in the free-to-play hit Path of Exile.

Next week, players can get their hands on the 1st "mini-expansion" for Grinding Gear Games' free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile. Titled Sacrifice on the Vaal. The content update includes additional skills, items, customization, enemies, and areas.

The story on the expansion may be the resurrection of Queen Atziri on the Vaal civilization, introducing a corruption through the POE Goods continent of Wraeclast. Players must send Atziri returning to the underworld and carry the corruption at bay.

I got to be able to sit down with Technical Director Jonathan Rogers when he walked me with the new features amongst people, including a sneak peek with the new end-game bosses.

Grinding Gear Games offers to release patch updates roughly every a fortnight, with mini-expansions coming every 4 months. Given that ambitious rollout of content, I asked regarding the monthly member list. Rogers said, "...many, many tons. We're approximately 5 million accounts. We've had large number of interest...It's been great!"

Free-to-play games don't have a home on PCs and cellular devices. There may be the possibility the RPG may ultimately come to Xbox One and Playstation 4. Rogers said Grinding Gear is, "Definitely considering it...There are certain skills which simply wouldn't go over. Like, by way of example, on this game you can market to any place on the watch's screen and you just couldn't do this with a controller...UI wise it's hard. But we have been definitely thinking of [it]. It wouldn't be Cheap POE Items surprising if you day there we were to announce as well."

For now though, it can be strictly for PC gamers. You can download Path of Exile free of charge on its website and Sacrifice with the Vaal will probably be available on March 5th, 2014.
