The capital of the USA is one of the most famous states of America and it’s clear to see why; it is home to some of the most picturesque buildings, statues and stunning pieces of architecture.

You would be hard pressed to fit everything into just one trip but if you are looking for the best things to do in the extremely vast city, then look no further.

The White House is potentially the most famous landmark in D.C., after all, it’s the home to the President of the United States and it’s an incredibly impressive feat to admire. You won’t be able to get too close to the home of Trump but even admiring it from afar is definitely something to tick off your bucket list.

Yet another stunning statue in D.C. is the Lincoln Memorial which not only plays a huge role in the history of the United States but it’s also a regular feature of many Hollywood movies, not least Forrest Gump. The stairs leading up to the memorial will remind you somewhat of the ‘Rocky steps’ in Philadelphia. Once you arrive at the top of the stairs you’ll not only be greeted with the impressiveness of the Lincoln statue itself but also the beautiful National Mall where you’ll be able to spot other famous landmarks such as the Washington Monument.

Washington D.C. certainly isn’t a state that is shy about its amazing architecture and that’s reflected in the stunning National World War II Memorial which is one of the most beautiful areas in D.C. This memorial commemorates all the brave soldiers who fought in the war with a breathtakingly beautiful fountain surrounded by towering pillars of the states of America.

The Washington Monument was built to celebrate the first president of the United States of America and it’s a statue that you certainly need to visit on your trip to D.C. The towering monument resides along the National Mall and even though you’ll always find crowds swarming around the monument, it’s a truly beautiful and peaceful area of the city.

We haven’t even touched on the surface of the plethora of museums that Washington D.C. has to offer as it’s a city that’s renowned for being incredibly rich in history.
