Vegetable Pulao - Tips That Will Never Go Wrong

Vegetable Pulao is a very versatile a one of the most loved rice item. It is fragrant, fluffy and a complete one pot satisfying meal. Different people have different ways of preparing it. Some use whole spices to flavour the rice and veggies, while others use a fresh wet masala. Vegetable pulao is an excellent one pot dish that can be put together in minutes & hassle free too. It is easy to carry & is a no mess when eaten for lunch or as a make ahead for parties.

When you try making Vegetable Pulao in the best way possible, remember the following essential tips, that will ensure your pulao is cooked in the most appropriate way

Use Good Quality Basmati Rice: Never compromise on the quality of Rice to be used for cooking. Choose the best quality available aged Basmati rice. When you cook the well picked rice it will cook perfectly the way you want it to be. Neither too soggy or uncooked, rather just perfect!.

Soak the rice well before cooking: Wash and soak the rice in water before starting to cook. Let the rice soak for at least 20 minutes. Soaking the rice is my secret to get fluffy rice at the end.

Roast the Rice: After you have washed the rice soaked in water, then the best way to make fluffy rice is to drain the rice well & roast them with ghee/ refined oil for some time. The rice will cook slightly for 2-3 mins & will become translucent and start smelling nutty

Use fresh vegetables: Always use selective fresh vegetables that are chopped/ diced to match the vegetable pulao preparation. It’s important that the vegetables are not pre-cooked or they will turn to mush

Water to Rice ratio: The most important tip to get the best cooked rice is to maintain the rice to water ratio. General ratio for cooking rice is 2:1, i.e. for every cup of rice add two cups of water.

The vegetable pulao is a flavourful medley of assorted vegetables, aromatic herbs, mild spices and rice cooked together. It is filling, healthy & is loved by most of us, either veg or non-veg. It is a complete meal in itself.
