Cotlands is a multi-award winning, non-profit organisation with a rich history and 80 plus years of experience in serving young children. Cotlands heeded the call to build a stronger nation by ensuring that as many potentially vulnerable children as possible have access to play-based early learning opportunities during early childhood.

The programmes are designed to ignite potential through play by enhancing children’s language and mathematics skills as well as ensuring physical and social-emotional development. The ultimate goal is to ensure that children have the required skills to excel academically and socially when entering formal schooling.

Cotlands Empowerment Trust
The Cotlands Empowerment Trust offers organisations the opportunity to partner with the Trust, under the enterprise and supply development, skills development, ownership and SED pillars. The Trust has been designed in consultation with Transcend Corporate Advisors, one of the knowledge leaders in the DTI B-BBEE best practise interpretation and implementation field. It has been signed off by Empowerlogic, a leading verification agency.

Our programmes
Cotlands’ early childhood education model provides a scalable, cost-effective and impactful solution to create a more equal and prosperous South Africa.

Early childhood development (ECD)
Early learning playgroups
Birth to two-year-olds early learning playgroups
Two to four-year-olds early learning playgroups
Toy libraries
Capacity building programmes
Activities for play-based learning

This approach allows a donor client to continue to benefit from and make a difference to society, under the SED pillar, which would consist of your usual CSI contribution to Cotlands. In addition, it enables an organisation to strategically invest money for one of their other pillars, into a well-managed, well-implemented, personalised and secure programme with the correct end-user beneficiary, identified for business sustainability and scarce skills development which is also aligned to the latest B-BBEE codes.
