Naya Raipur?s ICCC Eyes the City to Master the Details!

Staying true to the concept of Smart Cities in India, Naya Raipur has officially become the 10th greenfield smart city, joining the likes of Pune, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam to name a few. As a satellite city located 17km away from Raipur and with a population of approximately 450,000, India’s Honourable Prime Minister inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre to operationalise this city formally.

With Bilaspur and Raipur in tow, the NRDA is taking strict measures to ensure that Naya Raipur lives up to its expectation that it has created amidst one and all! The primary aim of this integrated centre is to digitally administer the delivery of various civic services and ensure that one maintains the standard of these smart cities.

A quick precap of the ICCC

For a novice who is simply looking forth to a digitalised greenfield smart city with updated facilities, there’s more to that. The ICCC developed at Naya Raipur will regularly update and control the power and water supply lines, traffic system, connectivity in and around the city, and infrastructure associated with the Internet.

Now, all these systems mentioned above are monitored through a geographic information system (GIS), wherein citizens can formally register their complaints via the helpline.

ICCC – The digital monitoring zone

As one of the foremost smart city project of India, this ICCC platform works in multiple areas. Facilities forwarded are:

  1. State of the art water and electrical supply systems – SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). It is a 24x7 uninterrupted supply system monitored by the primary platform.
  2. Enforcing Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras with monitoring of traffic rules & speed of the vehicle users to maintain records.
  3. Enforcing a certain sense of accountability into the administration of the Naya Raipur greenfield smart city via pedestrian monitoring and dashboard accountability system.
  4. This platform will also act as the sole platform for – payment and billing of water and electricity connection, allotment of land to the public, RTI and BRTS planning. This is one of the most important facets that this green and smart city boasts of.
  5. Specific user-friendly approach for all ‘differently -abled’ people and ensuring that their complaints are taken into account.
  6. There must be an optimum usage of services and assets via advanced services quite like water network system and outage management system.
  7. The platform always takes decision associated with this new green and smart city using – analytics derived by the business procedures, reports formulated by various bodies associated with this platform.

Thus, this ICCC is the sole roof of this smart city in tow with its national and foreign contemporaries to constantly monitor this city via a specialised Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera. Hence, be it irresponsible citizen behaviour or criminal activity, this smart city has eyes to deter it all!

With this integration of the multiple stakeholders under one roof, this control centre looks ahead to garner positive response regarding this 10th smart city project of India.  A stupendous success in this domain will assist in gaining attention from the global stalwarts who are looking forth to invest in this upcoming smart hub – India.
