Everything You Need to Know About The Masonic Lodge

If you are a Mason or leads a Mason group, there are chances that you may be well aware of the importance of Masonic lodge to organize the meetings. Masons or famously known as Freemasons, are the members of the Masonic society. A Masonic society is a group or organization that has adopted the ideology of brotherhood and always seek the opportunities to gain knowledge, discover history, explore symbolism, debate philosophies for a better future. All the members or masons share a similar feeling that they are brothers and should stay same for the eternity.

To many people around the world, Freemasonry remains a private world of Masons, ruled by bizarre rituals and beliefs. The ultimate aim of the Mason society is to not just to look at the history of the Freemasonry but to promote the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of the today’s Masonic fraternity.

Masonic Lodge or also known as a private lodge or constituent lodge, is a common organizational unit of Freemasons. It’s a building where Masons meet and discuss their matters of interest. As they are a shadowy privet group, they need a private building where they can carry out their rituals and instruct the new Masons.

Each Masonic lodge must be warranted by the Grand Lodge and should follow the instruction only at the times of implementing the published constitution of the jurisdiction. The world's first known lodge is the Grand Lodge, which is now merged into the United Grand Lodge of England, has the unique advantage of operating without any warrant. After the Grand Lodge, only one other lodge enjoys the same benefits of operating without any warrant, and that is the Grand Stewards’ Lodge in London.

Freemasons have the right to visit any of the lodges in any jurisdiction. However, in many lodges, this privilege is limited to only the Master Masons. Master Masons are the Freemasons who have attained the level three degree. Generally, Freemasons meet as a lodge, not in a lodge which is what people interpret typically from the word ‘Lodge’. Nevertheless, the term is usually used to refer to the building or premise where Masons meets. In many countries, the term ‘Masonic Lodge’ has been replaced by Masonic hall or Masonic Center to avoid any controversy.

The bottom line is, for the Masonic society, a Masonic Lodge serves a number of purposes and holds utmost importance.
