Colca Canyon Tour 1 DayPosted by machupicchu majesticperu on August 22nd, 2018 PLACE DESCRIPTION A full day trip to visit the Colca Canyon, This is the Best way when you dont have time in Arequipa, Enjoy one of the deepest canyons in the world with its nice and happy local people. Note, it is very important to reserve in advance, because normally the capacity of pax in the bus is limited for this tour or maybe you can ask for a private service. ITINERARY: At 02:30 a.m. we lleave Arequipa driving for 3 and a half hours towards Chivay; The capital of the Colca Canyon on north west direcction behind snow-covered Chachani. Breakfast. Then we continue driving for 2 more hrs towards the most visited point “ the Cross of the Condor” here we are able to see the depth of the canyon and the flight of the Condor. The area presents beautiful tipical towns, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with tipical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre inca terraces still in use with andean growings like corn, quinua, kiwicha among others. After Lunch we come back to Arequipa; on the way we stop at the highest pass: the view point of the Volcanoes and snow covered mountains in Patapampa (4,800 m. – 15,000 ft.). Later we will see wild vicuñas, alpacas & llamas in Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, some birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean gooze, ducks, andean eagle “Kara Kara”. ( 18:00 hrs. approx. Back in Arequipa .). IT INCLUDES:
COLCA CANYON TOUR 2 DAYS ITINERARY : FIRST DAY : Arequipa – Chivay At 08:00 a.m. Pick you up at your Hotel and departure from Arequipa ( 2325 m.a.s.l) towards north west direcction behind snow-covered Chachani; we see wild vicuñas, alpacas & llamas in Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, some birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean gooze, ducks, andean eagle “Kara Kara” view point of the Volcanoes and snow covered mountains in Patapampa (4,800 m.a.s.l). Arrive in Chivay (3600 m.a.s.l), capital of the valley. Afternoon optional visit to the thermal springs & pools in La Calera 40ºC. (Admission to the pools not included, about $ 6 per person). Note: The opcional vist to La Calera Hot Springs is for passangers staying at Chivay only. SECOND DAY : chivay – condor cross – Arequipa Early morning after breakfast (06:00)leave for a full day excursion in the left shore, beautiful tipical towns, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with tipical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre inca terraces still in use with andean growings like corn, quinua, kiwicha among others. After a 2 hrs drinving we get the most visited point “ the cross of the condor” here we are able to see the depth of the canyon and the flight of the Condor. After lunch return to Arequipa .
