Roulette ? A Player-friendly Game

There is a famous saying by the Einstein that ?You cannot beat a roulette table unless you steal money from it.? I had my first interaction with roulette in Grosvenor Casino Manchester George St. during my recent visit to the United Kingdom. It was indeed a simple casino game to be played.

The word ?roulette? is derived from a French word, which carries the definition of ?little wheel?. Roulette is invested on as early as the 18th century by Blaise Pascal from France. As a simple guide to beginners, a roulette player is allowed to place bets on either a single number or as many numbers as the player can afford. Also, bets can be placed on red or black colour and odd or even numbers. Then, a croupier spins a roulette wheel once. This is followed by the croupier spins a ball in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel in order to determine the winning number.

At last, the ball would fall onto one of the colored and numbered pockets. Players are allowed to place bet until ?no more bets? is announced by the croupier. Here, the winning number is born. All the losing bets are swept over by the croupier using hand or a rake. In the same vein, the croupier would make payouts to the winning bets.

There are 2 methods in which a player can place his or her bets. The first method is called placing ?inside? bets. A player can place bets on the exact number of the pocket he or she predicts the ball would land in. The second method is called placing ?outside? bets. A player places bets on whether the predicted pocket is black or red color and is of odd or even number.

Usually, minimum or maximum bets are imposed on a roulette table. Number 1 to 36 is marked on the roulette wheel. A green pocket is numbered zero. Roulette is also separated into American Roulette and French Roulette. It is contended that there are strategies for betting roulette. It is said that one can win by following a certain pattern of bet throughout every games.

It is also observed that past results are a guide to future bets. For instance, the next spin is most likely to be a black if the last spin was a red and black has been winning for 6 times. Systems for betting roulette are specific betting systems, Labouchere System and D?Alembert System.

One of the legendary bets on 2009 was done by Derren Brown, who had lost his ?5000 bet of public?s money due to his failure to utilize the law of physics. He misplaced the money on number 8 instead of 30, which was just one number out. A number of etiquette has to be observed while playing roulette. Chips should be placed on board by the player, instead of tossing them. A player can only change chips in between spins. It is decent to leave a tip for the croupier before leaving the table.
