What To Do When You Get A Migraine Attack?

Try to go to some calm place

If you get a migraine attack, you must try to go to some calm place. You may prefer retiring from work and go home or find a relaxing place around you to take some rest. The place should be totally serene and tranquil. It helps in calming down your mind and releasing stress. This in turn helps in bearing the pain caused due to migraine.

Protect yourself from harsh sunlight

Sunlight is also an offender and stimulator for migraine pain. That is why most patients of migraine are advised to go out only by covering themselves fully well. If possible, try to remain indoors away from sunlight. It is because intensive heat of the sun leads to further aggravation of the pain due to dehydration.

Protect yourself from loud noises

Like sunlight, loud noises are also known to increase the pain due to migraine. Thus you need to stay away from loud noises if you get a migraine attack. You must try to retire to some totally peaceful place away from noises.

Drink cold water

If it is summer season, you must prefer drinking cold water. It helps in offering some relief to the brain by maintaining normal body temperature.

Lay down in a cool and dark place

Whenever you get migraine attack, you must lay down in a totally calm, cool and dark place. It is known to offer considerable and quick relief from the pain. It allows your brain to get some rest and hence intensity of pain is reduced.

Try to sleep

If you feel fatigued and tired, you must try to sleep. You may listen to some light music. If you sleep deeply for even half an hour, it helps in elimination of the pain to great extent. Remember you should have undisturbed sleep in order to get sure relief from headache.

Use cold compression on the head
