DIY Central Heating System Repair

As homeowners, we always appreciate the importance of   HVAC system working perfectly. How much ever we want our air conditioners to work perfectly but at some point, we might end up with a faulty AC rather a faulty central heat. This is not as scary neither as unique a problem as you might think. You can easily call an emergency Air Conditioning repair service. But before you do it already save a few bucks by looking into some of the common causes of the issue. Here is a rundown of 4 such most common reasons as to why the central heat is not working but the AC is-

1.     Clogged Filters

Have you ever thought of how important are air filters for your home? It is most important to clear your air filters at least twice a year. If you are someone who has more than an average usage of the air conditioning system, you might need to clean the filters more than twice a year. There might arise situations where you might even need to change the air filters monthly.  Most of the disposable air filters work mainly on the leading surface of the filter. There are some particulates that pass through the first few millimeters of the spun filter material. This reduces the surface area left for clean air to pass through. After day and night use of your HVAC, the filters become clogged. Save the life of your AC and make it more efficient to cost you less to run.

2.     Faulty Thermostat

Check if the thermostat of your HVAC is working properly or not. Turn ON the thermostat and adjust the temperature and thereby turning ON the HVAC. If it fails even then, you need to check the circuit breaker and see whether or not the switch is functioning properly. If it trips, turn it ON back. This is one of the ways that might fix your problem if the problem lies somewhere within the thermostat.

An old thermostat may lose the accuracy and misread the temperature settings. This may lead the heat to be ON and OFF at the wrong times. An AC repair service representative can be a smarter move sometimes instead of getting a new one. However, if your thermostat is way beyond repairing, buying a new one is the smarter move.

Programmable thermostats also do the work of keeping your house nice and warm. It is an excellent way to cut down your heating bills by almost 10% to 20%.

3.     Igniter problems

You need to check if the igniter works properly or not if the central heating unit in your house uses propane or gas. The central heating system may also not work properly on the account of no gas. If there is no heat even when the thermostat is reset, shut off the gas and ensure whether there is gas or not. But if there is gas and the igniter still fails to light up, you must consider replacing the igniter or calling an HVAC repair technician.

4.     A poorly maintained furnace

The central heating system stopping to work abruptly is a common household problem. Without a regular maintenance, this problem becomes more common. Schedule an appointment with a 24 Hour Emergency Air conditioning Repair Technician and correct the flaws in your AC with some routine maintenance.

Just like you would not set off on a long road trip without checking the car’s engine oil and the air pressure in all its tires. Similarly, it is a good idea to put the same maintenance instinct to work with the heating system of your car for the cold season.
