The two countries have enjoyed stable and healthy relations since the two established diplomatic relations. As China’s biggest economic center, Shanghai is accelerating the process of building itself into an international center of economy, finance, trade, shipping, and a technology and innovation center. Shanghai is willing to share its experience and strengthen the cooperation with Cape Verda under the cooperation framework reached by the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Ying added.

Silva said the 2018 FOCAC pointed out the direction of development for China and Africa and ushered in a new era for Sino-Cape Verda relations. Shanghai is a dynamic and modern metropolis and Cape Verda has a lot to learn from the city’s development experience, Silva added. Tania Romualdo, Cape Verda’s ambassador to China; Du Xiaocong, China’s ambassador to Cape Verda; and Peng Chenlei, vice-mayor of Shanghai, also attended the meeting.
