Outlining the need for Solar Array Junction Box

Posted by surgeprotection on September 27th, 2018

Harnessing the power from the solar power system and distributing it to various outlets is becoming more common and is extensively used at homes and businesses. The panels and the complete system convert the generated DC power to AC; it must be provided with protective setup and must also be properly wired.

The solar array junction box also know as the combiner box is utilized to combine the outgoing strings of the panels and input strings of the DC distribution panel. The connection making process is tedious in any electrical network. When in case of a PV system, as the panels increases the connection making becomes more complex and hence this section must be given more importance. They can get easily disconnection, and location this fault and correcting may not be something that can be dealt with ease. Array junction box hooked up at the back of the panel using silicon adhesive is not a single entity rather this is a box that contains number of components yet in a ten fold compact configuration. It has a polycarbonate covering complying to IP65. The string combiners also serves to protect the installation and also conveys the entire energy from the panels to the various outlets. The string configuration of the junction box can be varied in accordance to the PV layout. The internal circuit of the box can also be customized as per the customer demands and the site requirement. It is an assembly of photovoltaic fuses, DC isolators, surge protection units, cloak boxes and other additional facilities. PV fuses are incorporated to deal with the over current entering in the device. Pluggable surge suppressors of rating 600 to 1000volt dc are included so as to provide effective defense against harmful surge events. Proper surge protection units clamps the overvoltage transients to a permissible level. Insulations are provided to protect from electric shocks and such associated hazards. In case of any future maintenance or repair work, DC isolators are included for easy disconnection of the DC side. This poly carbonate box is flawlessly engineered and accessorized with additional sensors and indicators for monitoring the continuous operation of the system.
