Top Features for Stackable, Apartment-Size Washers and Dryers

Posted by ABT on October 4th, 2018

If you are seeking an apartment-size washer and dryer in a stackable style, there are a variety of options available on the market. These functional appliances are perfect for homes or apartments with limited space, yet offer many of the same features as full-sized washers and dryers.

The Pluses of Stackables

These compact laundry units are available with either gas or electric dryers, and with either top loading or front-loading washer options. Front-loading machines actually use less water, making them more energy-efficient, but may cost more than top-loaders in that style. Commercial versions are also available, with coin-drop options and features allowing an owner to set vending options according to day, water temperature, and cycle options.

Space Savers

There is more than one type of washer and dryer for smaller spaces, so it is best to analyze the space you plan to use for a laundry area, and measure its width, the depth of the space, plus the amount of vertical space available. Apartment-size washers and dryers in stackable versions are 74 inches to 80 inches in height, and from 23.5 inches to 27 inches wide, and can usually fit in a space that is the size of a small closet.

If the space lacks the height needed for stackable models, there are all-in-one combos that may meet your size specifications for apartment size washer and dryers. Most are around 24 inches wide and 34 inches tall. One of the great features is that the dryers in some models offer a ventless system, meaning no outside venting is required.

Same Great Features of Full-Size Options

With stackable washers and dryers, you won’t need to compromise quality just to fit one into the space where it needs to go. Though they generally have a smaller capacity, you’ll still find great features such as automatic bleach and fabric softener dispensers, stainless steel wash baskets, and drying sensors that automatically turn off the dryer when the clothes have reached the right moisture content.

There are versions of apartment size washers and dryers in stackable versions that will also work without stacking. Many washers and dryers on the market today have the option of stacking, but you’ll need to purchase a stacking kit as well. If you find a washer and dryer you want that will fit the space you have available, check to see if it is stackable. While some versions of front loading washer and dryers are stackable, not all are.
