How could I become eligible for TESOL jobs?

TESOL jobs are for certified English teachers. These are international work opportunities available only for language teachers that are certified from an accredited institution. Here it is necessary to mention that teachers from regular schools and colleges are ineligible for these jobs.

English is an international language spoken in many countries including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and other countries. Since it is spoken in largest part of the world, it is also used as business language and language of education. International universities and colleges use English as their first language. They use it for teaching and for this reason they want their students to be able to use English as their first lingo.

TESOL stands for teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. As a language teacher, you can give tuition to anyone interested in learning the international language. But you will teach students going abroad for higher studies. It isn’t that others can’t get tuition but the students of foreign universities and colleges need English teaching more than others. It is so because they have to prove their efficiency of using English as their first language at the time of enrollment in foreign universities.

Teaching English for that specific test is very different from teaching international language to students of schools and colleges. When you teach language for a test, your objective becomes very specific. You limit your teachings to the contents of the test. But when you teach language to kids in a school, you teach them basics of language.

In TESOL jobs, you will prepare students of foreign universities for the difficult language test that they need to pass at the time enrollment in international colleges. The contents of the test are reading, writing, speaking and listening to the international language. Objective of the test is to determine efficiency of using English as the first language.

Students try their best to pass the test because their enrollment in the courses of their choice depends on their test results. They take tuition in English. As a certified English teacher, your job would be to train those students in English so that they can pass the test.

TESOL is international career for you and you can easily make a good start in this field after getting an accredited certificate from a leading institution. You need to do a course but it will be a short course that you can pursue with your regular job.
