The municipal security reserve of Angers is officially launched!

41 volunteers, men, and women of all ages and social backgrounds have pledged to provide help to the city of Angers, and especially to other angers in the event of a major crisis. They form the communal reserve of civil security. The city of Angers is never immune to floods, as in 1995, strong storms, scorching temperatures, and even an influenza pandemic. It was necessary to protect the population with volunteers, available and organized. You will recognize them. They are dressed in a reflective vest and have a helmet with the logo of the city of Angers...

It is by observing the municipal reserve of civil security of Orleans, founded in 2017, that the city council of Angers had the idea to found one. Angers was inspired and asked for advice from the city of Orleans to put its communal emergency reserve as part of many actions to strengthen solidarity and live together on its territory. This evening, 41 volunteers (17 men and 24 women) will follow a series of training to acquire all the necessary actions to put in place in case of natural disasters (storm, heat wave, etc.), epidemics or pandemics, or accidents (whether industrial or bodily).

They are active, retired, students or even job seekers and come from all parts of Angers. Mostly between the ages of 30 and 50, members are there to build local crisis management capacity, and to provide the additional manpower needed. Volunteers are of course supported by city insurance. Christophe works in the funeral and came to assist the rescue services: "I have 150 hours of work to recover... I do not necessarily want to pay me so I am committed to others!" He explains. Laetitia, meanwhile, does not imagine for a second not being a volunteer: "I've had it in my heart since always and in addition, I work in parallel in crisis management, so I know the field well and it's is a compliment to my job, "she says. Simone, finally, is retired: "I love my city, I am free to retire and to be able to take actions beneficial for my city seems interesting to me, even if I panic a little about the beginnings" she evokes.

You will not be able to pass by without recognizing them. They are dressed in a fluorescent orange hi vis vest with their names and wear a cap with the logo of the city of Angers which is made of reflective heat transfer vinyl. They will, of course, be trained by the city to first aid, the use of defibrillators and psychosocial risks. For everything to work as planned, 3 high points a year are organized to motivate the troops. Beginning next April, a training exercise in a covered trench will be simulated, under the real conditions of a road accident. In June, volunteers will be invited to meet the heat plan partners and people with disabilities for another day of information and training.

Finally, note that the communal reserve of civil security will be presented during the parade of 11 November in Angers.
