Types of Jacketing Equipment to Cover Processing Components

Posted by Ainsley Aiken on October 13th, 2018

Jackets are insulators, used to cover processing components such as pipes, valves, filters, accessories, and pumps. They are made for thermal insulation. This jacketing cover is wrapped around the valve. Then, the hooks are firmly joined together with the help of a rope. Jacketed sleeved plug valve, offers superior in-line sealing, redundant stem seals and 360-degree port retaining lips.

Making of Jackets

  1. A jacket can be fabricated of carbon steel, stainless steel, or other alloys.
  2. The finished Jacketed Check Valve is pressure-tested before shipment.

Thermal Jacketing

In the market, a range of thermal-jacketed products is available. It can be used for organic and inorganic chemical processors. They are highly helpful in pharmaceutical plants, polymer producers, petrochemical plants and food processors. Generally, this jacketing is divided into one of three broad categories: standard, swaged and hybrid systems. They are specifically fabricated. Now, find here the types of jacketing useful for the various valve cover.

Jacketed sleeved plug valve

Standard Jacketing

This jacketing system provides uniform application of heat by covering the pipe or valve from the flange. The jacket is jointto the back of the flange. So, oversize valves must be used to conform to a dash.

Swaged Jacketing

This system is used to protect against cross-contamination. So, it is required where temperature discontinuities at flanges, can be tolerated. This type of jacket is less expensive than standard jacketing due to small in-line flanges. These flanges are also called as total or partial jacketing.

Hybrid Jacketing

This jacketing is another best-selling system of utilizing a combination of both above mentioned jacketing systems i.e. Standard and Swaged Jacketing. They provide an excellent removal and special jacketing. In this system, straight-line piping may use swaged jacketing. But, valves and fittings employ modular or dismissible jacketing. It helps to eliminate temperature discontinuities at critical flow areas.

Jacketed valves

Any types of Jacketed Check Valve can be fully jacketed by fabricating techniques. It can also include many valves not available with integrally-cast jackets.

There are various fabrication techniques like standard fabrication which includes modifying the valve, to accept oversize flanges. Then, they become capable of extending the body as necessary to a regulatory standard. Further, adding the full jacket helps in ensuring that the interior tolerances remain the same as the original valve which is not jacketed.

Now, utilize this information to further get the accessibility to the jacketing system reliable for your business.
