New GST registration procedure in detailed steps

  • Now, first of all we will start with logging on to the government GST registration website, through this portal, you will be giving the required information to the government in detail to get an approval for a new GST registration.
  • Once you are on the GST registration website, go to the taxpayer section where there are two options, one saying taxpayers and other saying GST practitioners, pick the taxpayer under that there’s another option saying “register now” just click on it and another page will get open. Here you will notice that it’s a two-step registration page, the firststep being the entrance of user credentials and secondbeing the OTP verification.
  • A new registration form will open up where you must choose one of the listed options below, we will choose taxpayer here. Then next is choosing the state where your business is located as GST registration goes state by state, also choose your district next to make it more precise.
  • In case, you have started your new business you will now mention your business name as it is mentioned on your PAN, here we are talking about your business PAN of the proprietor. Right below it, mention your PAN number.
  • Next, enter your email address which will be used to get in touch with you, this means it has to be your registered active and official email address, along with this also enter your active and officially registered mobile number which will also be used for contacting purposes right below the email address slot. Take a good look at all the credentials that you have entered, then enter the required captcha and then click on the proceed button below it.
  • Once you click on the proceed button you will get on to the secondstep of the new GST registration procedure which is OTP verification as mentioned above. You will see two slots one being for the email OTP and other for the mobile number OTP, you will receive OTPs on both the platforms and you just have to fill them in the given slots and get verified. Once that is done, you will see a message on the page saying that your part A of the registration is now done and that a reframe number will be given to you which is temporary so save it for further processing. This TRN or temporary refrain even number will be valid for 15 days from the date of application. You must complete your registration within this given 15 days of time frame or your filled part will be automatically cancelled.
  • Now let’s have a look at the documents that you will be required in order to get your new GST registration done. Also be careful about the size you upload the files in, the sizes are mentioned right about minimum size being 100 KB and up to 1 MB to 2 MB and that is just a range of size and different documents will be needed to be uploaded with different size.

The next step will be based on the type of business you do and that is variable and up to you. Following is a basic list of documents that will be most common for all, variation will be based on the type of business and proprietorship you are into.

2)     Trade number

3)     Active email Id and a registered mobile number

4)     Aadhaar card number, this is not mandatory.

5)     The Digital signature, this is mandatory in case of new GST registration for a company or an LLP.

6)     The copies of the address proof of the proprietors, promoters or your respective partners.

7)     Now upload a photo of the proprietor, the promoters and/ or the partners

8)     Details of your bank account that you use for your business transactions.

9)     Copy of the address proof of your business place or registered office. (you will be asked about the nature of the premises of your business and you have to mention whether its owned, rented, leased etc and provide the proofs accordingly.
