iPhone Twitter app

Nowadays, everybody is using Twitter, and a lot of people are using them from their mobile phones. While we can?t cover every mobile phone in existence, we can surely cover one of the most famous of them: the iPhone. Now, there are probably hundreds of different Twitter apps to be found in the App store, but most of them are just weak. Only a handful of apps are truly noteworthy and even fewer are usable in day to day life. We will present one of the best apps out there, one that shouldn?t be absent from your phone.

First, naturally, it?s the Twitter app. Formerly known as the Tweetie app, it was acquired by Twitter and is now promoted as their stand alone application for the iPhone. I think it is one of the best Twitter apps out there, and, in fact, it?s the one I use every day. Its simple design is probably its best feature: you only have five different ?tabs?, selectable from the lower portion of the screen. In the first, you can see the general timeline, where the tweets from all the people you follow are visible. In the second tab, you?ll find those tweets that are addressed to you, your mentions. The third tab is for your Direct Messages, which are organized like discussions between you and the person that you?re talking with. The next tab is specific to Twitter, here you have the search function, the suggested users and the trending topics. The last tab is the ?engine room?, so to say. Here you can personalize your Twitter account, you can change anything about it. Here, you can modify the program?s settings, and personalize it to your very specifications. Also, from this tab you can select one of your lists of people to view separately.

The app works perfectly when you?re on Wi-Fi, I have yet to encounter a flaw with it. When you are using it through your network?s 3G, or even EDGE if your signal isn?t strong enough, you might experience a bit of a delay when the app is updating the tweets. But, compared to other apps, this delay is ignorable, lasting only a couple of seconds.

When creating a new tweet, you have loads of different options:  you can take a photo with the camera, or choose one from your photo library, and add it via one of Twitter?s photo services. Also, the Usernames tab gets you access to your following lists, so if you don?t remember who you?d like to mention you?ll quickly find them. Geotagging, hashtags and URL shrinkage is also available in the options.

All in all, I think this is one of the very best Twitter apps out there, and I definitely recommend it!
