The boss of the airport being built at the German capital Berlin knows for sure that the last deadline for the opening will be met. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) will open its doors in the autumn of 2020 written by CNN News.

"This time we succeed", says Engelbert Lütke Daldrup in an interview in the Welt am Sonntag. According to Daldrup, there is a clear timetable.

This takes sufficient account of "different risks, including delays". The "latest defects" are being checked at the airport, he says. And the technical aspects are tested.

The construction of the airport started in 2006. In the first instance, BER had to be taken into use at the end of 2011, as a replacement for the Schönefeld, Tempelhof and Tegel airports.

But due to various causes, the opening has been postponed several times. The project also cost billions of euros more than planned. In May it was decided that the airport should be bigger.

There is another new terminal for price fighters under construction. Eventually, BER will be able to receive some 28 million passengers.
