Christmas In USA

After a church service at midnight on Christmas Eve, people walk down the streets carrying torches, playing guitars and beating on tambourines and drums. People in Spain celebrate Epiphany as well, that is, the day when the Wise Men brought gifts to baby Jesus on January 6. Children receive some presents on Christmas Day, but most are opened on January 6 and children believe that the Wise Men are the ones who bring them. On Epiphany Eve (January 5th) they leave shoes on windowsills or balconies or under the Christmas tree to be filled with presents. Kids often leave cognac and walnuts for the Wise Men and a bucket of water for their camels.


Christmas In Mexico

Christmas celebrations in Mexico start on December 16, when the first \"posada\" is held. \"Posadas\" are celebrated for nine nights at different houses, where family and friends are invited to pray. The hosts then offer guests a light meal. The ninth posada is celebrated on Christmas Eve with fireworks and a christmas party pinyata.


Chrismas In Germany

The \'Adventskranz\' -a wreath of leaves with four candles-is a traditional German Christmas ornament. (Advent - meaning \'coming\' - is the 4 week period before Christmas). On each Sunday of Advent, another candle is lit. Although gingerbread has been a holiday tradition for thousands of years and it was originally eaten during Winter Solstice Festivals, the tradition of the house made of gingerbread originated in Germany.
